First male synchro skater to compete for Canada at Worlds

Nexxice has made history before, when they became the first Canadian team to win gold at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in 2009. This year, Nexxice will make history as soon as they step on the ice to compete on April 8th. For the first time, a male skater will be competing for a Canadian team at Worlds. However, The Hamilton Spectator explains that “[t]he story, really, is that there is no story” in Male skater breaks the ice.

The Junior World Challenge Cup begins Friday, March 11 in Switzerland. According to the event website,, we’ll be able to watch online here.

I’ve taken the liberty of doing the time zone math for those of us in North America. I hope the advance notice gives you enough time to think of a good excuse to call in sick to school or plan to “work from home.”

  • Short Program: Friday, March 11, 10:00 AM-1:20 PM (Mountain Standard Time)
  • Free Program: Saturday, March 12 9:00 AM-12:50 PM (Mountain Standard Time)

No start order yet–the short program draw takes place on Thursday at 11:00 AM (MST).
