Worlds 2012: team updates, broadcast schedules, and more

After hosting the Junior World Challenge Cup less than a month ago, the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, is in the synchro spotlight once again as it welcomes teams, officials, and fans from around the globe to the World Synchronized Skating Championships this week. April 13th and 14th will arguably be the most exciting two days of the year for synchro aficionados, and for those of us who can’t be in Sweden to take in the live action, we give thanks for the blessing that is the Internet. Event schedule

Practices got underway today, and the competition kicks off Friday with the short program. A number of detailed schedules are available on the official website, but here’s a snapshot of the competition times:

  • Friday, April 13: Short Program – 17:30 (local)
  • Saturday, April 14: Free Program Group B – 15:00 (local), followed by 40 minute break
  • Saturday, April 14: Free Program Group A – 17:30 (local)

Broadcast schedule

According to a Facebook post from March 16, The Studio that was available for JWCC will also be at the WSSC, though no direct link is available yet.

  • Europe: live on the web, via Swedish SVT and Finnish YLE
  • Canada: Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 PM (EDT), on CBC
