The ISU has released Communication 2084, detailing Well Balanced Program Content for the 2017-18 season. This communication replaces Communication 2008 and related clarifications in Communication 2012.
Here is a summary of the Junior and Senior requirements:
Junior Short (five required elements)
- Angled Intersection with Point of Intersection
- No Hold with Step Sequence
- Pivoting Block in four lines
- Synchronized Spin in upright position
- Traveling Wheel – three-spoke
Senior Short (five required elements)
- Whip Intersection with Point of Intersection
- Move Element – at least 1/2 the team must execute an unsupported spiral
- No Hold with Step Sequence
- Pivoting Block in three lines
- Traveling Wheel – four-spoke
Junior Free (seven elements)
Must include the following four required elements:
- Intersection with Point of Intersection
- Intersection without Point of Intersection
- No Hold Element
- Pair Element
Plus a choice of one element from each Group:
- Group A – Move OR Synchronized Spin Element
- Group B – Creative OR Combined Element
- Group C – Block (Linear) OR Line (Linear) OR Wheel (Rotating) OR Circle (Rotating)
Senior Free (nine elements)
Must include the following six required elements:
- Group Lift with rotations (must include rotations required for the level)
- Group Lift that glides (may rotate but rotations are not required)
- Intersection with Point of Intersection
- Intersection without Point of Intersection
- No Hold Element
- Pair Element
Plus a choice of one element from each Group:
- Group A – Move OR Synchronized Spin Element
- Group B – Creative OR Combined Element
- Group C – Block (Linear) OR Line (Linear) OR Wheel (Rotating) OR Circle (Rotating)
